Finding beauty in everyday life through street photography

Hello and welcome! I’m Olivier.

I’m a street photographer with a curious heart, a love for stories, and a camera that rarely leaves my side. I live in the medieval city of Bruges, Belgium, where cobblestones seem to whisper old tales and everyday life unfolds like a stage waiting to be seen. This is where I wander most often, searching for the extraordinary hiding quietly in the ordinary.

authenticity matters

My creative path actually began in videography. When the Canon 5D Mark II arrived—a camera celebrated for its revolutionary video capabilities—I bought it with filmmaking in mind. But the day I switched over to the photo mode out of pure curiosity, something shifted. What began as a small experiment quietly opened the door to a much larger journey.

Long before I ever picked up a camera, I grew up surrounded by Permeke-inspired paintings in my grandparents’ home. At the time, I didn’t fully understand their impact, yet those raw, honest scenes settled somewhere in me. It wasn’t until I began exploring photography, and later street photography, that I realised how deeply those early impressions shaped the way I see.

I guess that’s why authenticity has become the foundation of my work. I never stage my images; instead, I try to stay open to the unpolished beauty of real moments. Street photography, especially, feels like a homecoming—an ongoing search for small truths playing out in everyday life.

While studying at the London School of Photography, I was honoured to be named Student of the Week, a milestone that encouraged me to keep pushing my craft. Since then, my work has appeared in exhibitions across Belgium, including my first solo show in Knokke-Heist, and has been featured internationally in places like Fujilove Magazine in Switzerland, as well as an interview on Belgium’s Radio 2 Podcast.

Thank you for being here.
