My favourite street photography spots in Bruges

Bruges might not be the first city that comes to mind for street photography, but that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding. Beneath its postcard-perfect image lies a dynamic visual playground where colour, shadow, and human presence intersect in unexpected ways. From the bustle of the central market to the intimate side streets lined with quirky shop signs, Bruges offers countless opportunities to capture authentic, unscripted moments. So rather than documenting the city as a postcard image, I decided to explore the streets of my hometown Bruges with the eyes and lens of a street photographer. Enjoy!

Street photography exhibition

In 2024, I presented a street photography exhibition ‘Brugge, anders bekeken’ at Cultuurcentrum Scharpoord in Knokke-Heist (B), focused on the streets of Bruges as I have observed and photographed them over the past years. The work shown was a selection of 22 images made between 2020 and 2024, capturing everyday moments from the city across all seasons. Most of the images shown in the exhibition were printed for the first time and had never been exhibited before. The exhibition was extremely well received by the press and the visitors.
